The
Divisions of Play:
This will be the second
year of play with the new age guidelines. The age cut off for play is
May 1. The change was made by all youth baseball organizations to
better coordinate a players age with the baseball season.
The T-Ball division will
meet on Saturdays. A player must be 4 by May 1 2007 and no older than
6 on May 1, 2007. Players participate in age appropriate skill
development activities and scrimmage in a non results oriented
atmosphere.
The Farm League division
is for 7 and 8 year olds. Players must be 7 by 5/1/07 and no older than
8 on 5/1/07. Teams will practice a few times before the season starts.
Once the season begins in late April, there will be one or two games a
week through early June. The kids play a modified game with the coach
pitching. More detailed rules are in the Handouts link. The emphasis is
on skill development as well as an introduction to team play. Score is
not officially kept and good sportsmanship and teamwork is emphasized.
The Junior League
division is designed for 9 and 10 year olds. Players must be 9 by
5/1/07 and no older than 11 on 5/1/07. In the Junior League division,
games are scheduled in both Plympton and Halifax. There will be 2-3
games a week beginning in late April through early June. Results are
recorded with playoffs occurring after the season. Usually coaches
practice during the season.
The Senior League
division is designed for 11 and 12 year olds. Players must be 11 by
5/1/07 and no older than 12 on 5/1/07. In the Senior League division,
games are scheduled in both Plympton and Halifax. There will be 2-3
games a week beginning in late April through early June. Results are
recorded with playoffs occurring after the season. Usually coaches
practice during the season.
Travel Teams:
It is a goal of PAYS
Baseball to develop a program with skill levels on par or above
neighboring organizations. In doing so, PAYS Baseball submits teams in
to summer travel leagues. Usually Junior and Senior teams are
organized. Players are selected to play based on the recommendations of
all coaches.
CORI
checks:
As required by state law
and PAYS Baseball/Softball, ALL coaches, league officials, and
referees have been CORI checked.
Volunteering:
PAYS is grateful for the
many people who step forward to help out. We can always use more. From
lining the field, snack stand, umpiring, coaching, and administration
there is a place for anyone interested in giving time.
Donations:
PAYS operates on its
registration fees, local business sponsors and donations from families
and community members. Every dollar collected goes directly to the
operational expenses of the league. Some families are unable to make a
time commitment and offer a donation of money to the league. If you are
a business owner or community member and would like to make a donation,
please contact us or mail it to PAYS, PO Box 218, Plympton, MA 02367.
